Lead Installer – Lead Mechanic

  • Sign-on bonus up to $2,500
  • Salary: $25.00 – $30.00 per hour

Position Details

Schedule: 7:30am to 4:00pm
Occasional Weekends, Evenings & Overtime

Job Overview:

The Installer – Lead Mechanic provides a high-quality customer experience by performing heating and air conditioning installations that meet company standards. This position will also supervise the work of other installers and assist with training. Additionally, this position is responsible for proper system startup and commissioning and obtaining customer satisfaction.

 

Experience & Requirements:

  • HVAC: 2 years (Required)

License/Certification:

  • EPA Type II (Preferred)
  • Must have a valid driver’s license

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (Required)
  • Demonstrate mechanical aptitude
  • Work from 28’ extension ladder and 12’ step ladder
  • Safely operate hand and power tools and testing devices
  • Must hold EPA Universal Refrigerant Handling License
  • Clearly communicate with customers and coworkers
  • Ability to regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds
  • Excellent customer service skills. Ability to communicate with the customer
  • Ability to handle challenging situations with customers
  • Ability to work in usually loud conditions
  • Safely operate genie and scissor lifts
  • Ability to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, climb, balance, and smell
  • Ability to install and troubleshoot air conditioners, heat pumps, furnaces, and air handlers
  • Visual requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus due to the constant maneuvering of vehicle in tight and high traffic areas
  • Advanced knowledge of line and low voltage systems. Ability to connect multiple accessories including zoning systems
  • Meet all qualifications and have all tools required for Junior Tech to Lead Mechanic levels
  • Design, install and troubleshoot duct systems
  • Ability to lead an install for multizone and branch box style mini-split systems with guidance on complicated layouts

Expectations & Responsibilities

  • Adhere to vehicle policies and procedures
  • Perform each installation from start to finish without supervision
  • Identify & report issues with any company tools or vehicles
  • Oversee daily equipment staging and job preparation
  • Work well with customers, co-workers, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Ensure all jobs are completed within the labor budget
  • Complete all paperwork on a daily basis to include job packets and any other installation forms
  • Troubleshoot residential and light commercial systems
  • Work a staggered schedule if required
  • Measure airflow and balance a duct system
  • Knowledge and application of local and national codes – make sure the job will pass inspection
  • Manage installers on current projects and assist with supervision of additional install teams
  • Follow instructions from supervisor and/or dispatcher
  • Size and draw ductwork correctly
  • Train Junior Tech, Apprentice and Apprentice Pro level installation employees
  • Always maintain a professional appearance and attitude
  • Other duties as assigned
